One snowy night patrolling across the DMZ Border of South and North Korea, as I'm shivering my butt off, with wind chills below zero, listening to the loud speakers blast Communist Propaganda on repeat, I told myself if I ever was going to make it out of here, that I was going to do what I love most, and that is to be part of filmmaking. Because outside of my experiences, film is the only thing that conveys all the emotions that I was feeling. My military experience has taught me that to serve the mission, I don't need to be the hero, but the one who looks after everyone’s' back. That's why I love editing, because I can just zone in and swim in hours of dailies that are missing slates, and troubleshoot jam syncs that don’t work, so that the real heroes can accomplish the mission of telling their story. Storytelling is an integral part of our lives. I want to work on the back end for you, so that when you open up your AVID or Premiere, you have all the necessary needs in front of you, and in the right bin, to allow what you do best, is to cut!
While many Producers and Editors had their own particular habits and processes, working for companies like DirectTV and the NFL, where the atmosphere can be chaotic and deadlines were critical, I was able to future proof things for the editor by bringing the processes and the workflows to them to, so that they can get the output they need.
It doesn’t matter if its short form social media content, documentaries, television, or features, I just want to help be part of the process. I am ready to go in the trenches with you, by speaking your language and sharing your ideas and seeing your vision through the same lens be put on a screen. Through deep collaboration and problem solving, I want to assist in your vision of creating stories that moves people and evokes emotions.
